En 1916, Joseph Monet, ingénieur et Adrien Goyon, héritier, s’associent à Macon pour fabriquer des engins sans moteur dans le but de rendre de la mobilité aux nombreux mutilés victimes de la guerre de 14-18.
Monet-Goyon, à l’égal d’un Terrot, devient rapidement un immense fabricant de tout ce qui roule, moteurs, motos, vélos, roues-motrices, vélo-fauteuils, moto-légères, voiturettes motorisées et scooters.
On connaît cette marque surtout pour ses motos, victorieuse dans les années 20 de nombreuse victoires et records.
La marque s’éteindra en 1959.
Il existe un musée Monet-Goyon à Melle dans les Deux-Sèvres.
L’iconographie publicitaire est extraordinaire.
